Through six-week virtual projects, graduate and professional learners get the chance to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios. This experience enhances their resumes, expands their professional networks, and bridges the gap between theory and practice.
XN projects are adaptable and can be integrated into capstone courses, electives, or course assignments, ensuring a seamless fit within the curriculum. These projects provide students with faculty guidance, professional development, coaching, and mentorship, guaranteeing a rewarding educational experience.
XN’s mission is to make experiential learning accessible to all Northeastern students while impacting real-world business decisions. This initiative not only benefits students but also bolsters Northeastern’s position as a global leader in experiential learning.
In this academic year alone, 1764 students have successfully completed 239 XN projects across 121 courses, each supported by 155 different sponsors.
An Example of an XN Project:
In Carolyn Boviard’s MKTG6200 Creating and Sustaining Customer Markets graduate course in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, students are creating a comprehensive marketing plan to help Nudnik, a Canadian clothing company with a focus on genderless clothing that reduces wastewater and energy consumption, appeal to new customers. Students are researching trends in upcycling and sustainability, highlighting market opportunities and consumer preferences. The students’ report will include a compelling business narrative that showcases the company’s journey, values, and commitment to upcycling—appealing to consumers interested in sustainable fashion. Ultimately, the students’ work will help leaders understand consumer trends related to upcycling and sustainability, the market potential and demand for upcycled products, and more about their target consumers and how to set up effective marketing to reach new customers.
